Stranger still, she sees that her mother is none other than the beautiful Enchantress who cursed the Beast, his castle, and all its inhabitants. And that is her primary concern.īut Belle touches the Beast’s enchanted rose, intriguing images flood her mind-images of the mother she believed she would never see again. Belle also happens to be the captive of a terrifying, angry beast. She wants to explore the world, despite her father’s reluctance to leave their little cottage in case Belle’s mother returns-a mother she barely remembers. She longs to escape her poor provincial town for good. Alphabet 2020 per Un libro il cui titolo inizi per WĢ."What if Belle’s mother cursed the Beast?īelle is a lot of things: smart, resourceful, restless. It's likely it will be more appreciated by a teen, but seen the intent was to add more 'adult themes' to the plot, I think it partially failed to appeal to anyone over their teen years.ġ. To be clear, I do not think it's a very bad book. The Genie is really under-used, and while part of it is coherent with the plot, part of it is just. In fact, I get the impressione that the story swings from bleak to naive: some really tragic moments are sort of glossed over the Sultan's death effect over Jasmine is exhausted in just a couple of pages, while others are dragged until boredom prevails (the resistance part is too dilated, at least for the part where nothing happens). I think this book might have suffered the fact that, being the first volume of the series, Disney and/or the authoress had not a clear idea of how much darker the story needed to be, because as far as I can see, other volumes were liked a lot more. I'm not technically of the 'right age', young-adult books have given me some surprises over the years.

Eccomi! None of the characters had enough to make a big creative difference though. Genie had a little, and a couple funny quips. Aladdin had a few pages worth (I didn't watch the move sequels). What better direction could the book have gone? I would appreciated more backstory with Jafar. Because I did finish the book quickly and mostly enjoyed it, I gave the book three stars. I think they had some wild high expectations. I imagined a twisted fairy tale would give more of a story to Jafar rather just evil person trying to take over the world.Ī lot of people hated this book.

The author takes great pains to paint Jafar in a boring, flat, evil light. This time instead of Aladdin, Jafar is successful in finding the lamp. A lot of the rest of the book is rather flat like the magic carpet.

#A TWISTED TALE LIZ BRASWELL MOVIE#
Like a magic carpet ride, it was a pleasant to revisit a movie that reminded me a simpler time in my life.

The first 25% of the book is basically a retelling of the Disney Aladdin movie. Disney Press describes this as a dark and daring retelling of their beloved Aladdin movie.
